Though we come from many different countries and speak a variety of languages, we have chosen to worship God in our common tongue — English.
As Christians, we come from a variety of church traditions, but we agree to concentrate on the basics of the Christian faith that unite rather than divide us.
We emphasize the Bible as God’s final word to us. We preach the Good News of personal forgiveness and salvation into a new direction of life through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, God’s Son, in the power of the Holy Spirit.
… A CHURCH
We are a local part of the universal Christian church and encourage all to have good relations with fellow Christians in all churches.
…provide opportunities, in the region of Bern, for English-speaking people to come to know Jesus Christ personally, and to grow and mature in their relationship with him and with others.
…encourage active involvement in the life of the church and personal application of God’s word in the power of the Holy Spirit, so that we may live in demonstration of his Kingdom here on earth.
There is one God, who is loving and holy.
God created everything and loves all people.
He shows himself to us as God the Father,
God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ, God the Son, came to make clear to us what God is like. He lived a perfect life and died to take the punishment for the wrongdoing of all people. After his death, Jesus rose to life again and lives with his Father in Heaven as Lord and Saviour of His people.
Although God made people good, we all need forgiveness for the wrong we have done. If we admit our wrong, turn from it, and put our trust in him, he forgives and renews us, calling us to live in a new way of obedience to him.
God the Holy Spirit is working in us today to make his wisdom, love and power available to us all.
God inspired and gave us the Bible as his final word of truth to follow.
The Church is the family of all Christian people. We are called to love and obey God, and to enjoy and care for all he has made, as we show and share his love and truth for others.
We look forward to the personal return of Jesus. Those who reject him will experience a continuing and terrible separation from God. Those who have trusted him will know the freedom and joy of life with God for ever.
